International Celtic Congress 2021

Due to the pandemic the annual International Celtic Congress 2020 to have been held in Aberystwyth was postponed to 2021. As the pandemic is still ongoing it was decided to reschedule this as a virtual online congress. This will start on 2nd July through to 4th July.

A full programme is provided here, which includes Alba's contribution of top speaker, entertainers and Scottish Gaelic tutor. Celtic Congress is a wonderful way for the Celtic nations to share their cultural traditions with each other and to promote each nations own historic, cultural and environmental heritage to a wider audience.

A’ Chomhdhail Cheilteach Alba hope that all those who stand for Scotland and love its culture and heritage will support us in this pan-Celtic cultural event.

Àdhamh Ó Broin /AAgiv oh BRIN/ is a writer, musician and Gaelic language activist of Irish and Highland Caithness parentage and was brought up in central mainland Argyll.

He is the first person to raise a family of native speakers of the Gaelic dialect of this area in 80 years and has absorbed a huge storehouse of lore from the few mainland tradition bearers who now remain during 15 years of fieldwork traveling the length and breadth of the Scottish Highlands.

A proud autodidact, Àdhamh is most famous for his work as Scottish Gaelic Consultant on Sony Pictures' Outlander (2013-present) although his daily preoccupations keep him much closer to home and the long overdue decolonisation of Scotland’s people through reconnection with the carrying stream of indigenous culture, language and spirituality.

As well as working in film & TV, Àdhamh runs his own business providing all manner of Gaelic language solutions from translation and tuition to community projects and cultural experiences and retreats for visitors to Scotland as well as being a lively bilingual MC. He currently lives in Glasgow with his wife and four children.
